Criminal Defense Investigations

Contrary to common thought, a private investigator very rarely is the person who 'solves the crime'. The law enforcement agencies are the prosecutorial investigating arm of the District Attorneys, or Prosecutors. A private investigator should never attempt to butt an investigative nose into such investigations.

Criminal defense investigations is an entirely different story. A qualified criminal defense investigator will know how to take statements supporting a suspect's claim of innocence, or the attorney's strategy to defend the victim to the best of his ability within the law, and above all, be able to determine and develop the spacial relationships of person(s) involved in the crime on to the victim(s). Every detail is important to the defense team.

Criminal defense investigations are usually conducted under the aegis of a criminal defense attorney (Note: Criminal Defense Attorney, not Criminal Attorney).

Most criminal defense cases involve the more mundane problems related to vehicle code violations (Driving Under the Influence - Hit and Run felonies - accident investigations. However, the capable investigator is able to successfully work assault cases, molestation cases, drug related cases and, if the investigator is truly competent, murder defense cases.
